Children & Family Galesburg Jaycees Rib Cook-Off
Competition begins at 5:30 am;
Judging at 12 pm

  Come join Winky, George, and LeRoy along with the Galesburg Jaycees as they once again cook up some great ribs downtown. Public welcome to enter the competition ($100.00 entry fee). Ribs will be cooked, judged, and then served to the public. Prizes for first - third place and People’s Choice Award. Get here early as the ribs are sure to go fast! Railroad Galesburg Railroad Museum

211 S. Seminary St. (north of the Depot) (Map)
Museum building, handicapped-accessible, containing the Fagan Reading Room, displays of railroad memorabilia and artifacts, a telegrapher’s station, a CTL board, and an engineer’s control stand. Outside is a memorial to those railroaders killed on duty, a commemorative walkway, a collection of rolling stock including Engine 3006, a Railway Post Office/Railway Express car, the Pullman car Meath with more displays and a caboose. View the General Electric Corporation's Dash 9 Locomotive, a newer design diesel electric engine.  Take a tour of the locomotive and view a display of parts.
 
Railroad Railyard Bus Tour

Bus tour every 30 minutes over 4th St. to County Road 10 to hump tower and to railyard.  40-minute narrated ride.  $
 
Shopping Galesburg Historical Society Flea Market

Standish Park Arboretum (Map)
Wander the shady walks of Standish Park and browse through antiques, collectibles and more. Food and drink available at the Park’s gazebo.

Model Train and Railroadiana Show at Carl Sandburg College

The largest event of its kind in the Midwest during the summer months. Thirty model railroad layouts and exhibits. Eighty dealers offering 250+ tables of railroad related items including antiques, apparel, art, books, collectables, models, modeling supplies, photoslides, videos and DVD’s. Lectures and video shows. Free parking and free shuttle bus to Depot/Museum area. All proceeds benefit the Carl Sandburg Coll. Foundation.   $5, includes Toy Show (under 12 free)  Web site

Tours 10 am - 4 pm
Trams load at BNSF Amtrak Depot, Circle Drive (Map)
Tickets at the Depot information booth. Tours are 45 min. $2 per person per tour. Ages 6+. Seating limited to 18 per tour.  $

The area will be closed to traffic for the weekend filled with a variety of booths and displays.
 
Sports Push/Pull Powerlifting Meet
10:15 am (Weigh-In from 9 am - 10 am)

The fifth annual bench press and trap bar raw meet, governed by United States Powerlifting rules and regulations, will again feature both individual and team competition. Individual and team awards for first thru third place and best lifter honors will be awarded.  $ entry fee.
